WESTFIELD CHESS CLUB

IMPORTANT!

NEW SUMMER HOURS!!

The Westfield YMCA has reduced its hours & will be closing at 3 p.m. on Sundays from June 26th through Labor Day.

Thus, we have to start earlier & run faster time controls.

Doors will open for setup at 9:30 a.m.

Tournaments will start at 10:15 & must be finished by 2:30 p.m.

They will be 3 rounds of G/30 d5 (10:15, 11:40, 1:05) or 2 rounds of G/50 d5 (10:15, 12:25).

There will be absolutely no wriggle-room re: start time.

Established in the early 1940's, the Westfield Chess Club is New Jersey's most prestigious chess club, with several Grandmasters & NJ State Champions among its alumni.

We have resumed running Sunday in-person tournaments at the YMCA building, 220 Clark Street, Westfield, NJ 07090. Please note the new, earlier, 11:45 a.m. start time & arrive early (by 11:15) to allow Y to do their check-in. Doors open at 11.

All attendees must sign the Westfield Area Y's COVID-19 Waiver!

Please do this online to avoid long lines & get the tournament started on time.

If you are under age 18 a parent will have to sign for you.

Everyone must also agree to the Y's Code Of Conduct.

The Westfield CC requires that you wear a mask (Bring your own. They are not supplied.) & reserves the right to eject or refuse those who do not comply with our COVID-19 protocols.

The right to require proof of vaccination is also reserved.

However, since "we" are essentially a 1-man show, this is not expected to be a requirement any time soon.

Eating is not allowed in the tournament room.

Ask the YMCA if you can eat in the lounge.

** Effective immediately... the Westfield CC reserves the right to:

1. Charge cancellation/re-stocking fees or suspend/ban players for late or silent withdrawals.

2. Suspend/ban or charge compensatory/reinstatem7ent fees to those playing with an expired USCF membership. **
